Long awaited news now turned into reality: Samsung Pay is now available for pay as you go journeys on TfL and more: bus, tube, tram, DLR, London Overground, TfL Rail, Emirates Air Line, River Bus and most National Rail services. Samsung always brings user friendly technologies and this app facilitating contactless payments on all means of transportation in London via smartphones is equally easy and caters to the basic need of paying dues, conveniently. All it needs is for the users to get their debit or credit card registered and then pay easily using their phone app, previously downloaded from the Samsung Galaxy Apps store and installed of course. Samsung Pay is the last to join Transport for London’s contactless payment system, their rivals Apple Pay and Google Wallet being already available.

Tapping the phone on the contactless card reader also helps people during unplanned travelling, no matter if using a bus, a train or the tube; just pay as you keep planning the journey further using this mobile phone app.

Shashi Verma, Chief Technology Officer at TfL said on this occasion the TfL is extremely pleased Samsung joined the system, contributing to making ticketing an easy task for all travellers in London due to the numerous ways for paying for their journeys.

Transport for London representative claims that since they have installed the contactless payments, the overall consumer demand has increased continuously and this new advancement suits them and the travellers perfectly, more than 900 million contactless journeys have already been made in London since the introduction in December 2012. Moreover, contactless payments on TfL fuelled consumer take-up of the technology and TfL is proud to contribute to this movement.

Conor Pierce, Vice President of the IT & Mobile Division at Samsung Electronics UK & Ireland, said: “Following the launch of the Galaxy S8 and S8+ earlier this year, we are thrilled to be introducing another innovative service to our latest flagship devices, reinforcing our commitment to making peoples lives easier. Keeping our goal to bring convenience with sleek style, we are excited to be able to bring this app out in the market which will make the users feel more safe and smart. This innovative app will transform the mobile wallet history, and will add up to our achievements for Samsung Pay will transform the way our customers pay for day-to-day items, giving consumers a safer, smarter mobile wallet.”
